Micro eGuide Microbiology Lab Basics - working in a Microbiology lab

The Micro eGuide is designed to provide basic instruction on laboratory safety, microbiological skills and laboratory equipment using text, photos, simulations, and video. This guide is intended to provide a first introduction to these topics and to be resource for students requiring a review of the material. Ideally, the laboratory safety portion of the website should be used by students prior to their being allowed into a microbiology lab. When comparing students that use the Micro eGuide website to learn how to work in a micro lab versus those that are taught using lectures and handouts research shows that student learn better by using the Micro eGuide.

This website is available for everyone to use without restrictions. For students there are three differences between registering and not registering. First, you will be able to access a report of the quizzes you have taken. Second, your instructor will be able to access reports about quizzes you have taken. Third, the ads on the right will not display when you are logged in. Students should only register if their instructor has told them to do so.

Instructors who have their students register can track their progress on the quizzes. Click here for information about the benefits of registering for our Microbiology Lab Basics course. Instructors can make a registration request on the Contact Us page. Please make sure to indicate the name of your institution when making a registration request.
